Docusol Solution is one of a group of medicines called laxatives. They are usually used to prevent and treat constipation. Docusol Solution is usually used to treat and prevent constipation. Docusol Solution may also be used before a stomach X-ray. Docusate is used to soften the poo and make bowel movements easier. Constipation can often worry parents. Stool that is not easily passed or is not soft, means your child is more than likely constipated. In rare cases, constipation can be caused by a lack of nerves going to the intestines or by a problem with the way the intestine has formed during birth. A health care provider can test for these if they feel it is needed.

    Docusol Paediatric Solution

A child may need to use Docusol Paediatric Solution if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
    • Not done a poo at least 3 times in the last week
    • Stool is large and hard
    • Stool looks like “rabbit droppings” or little pellets
    • Showing signs of strain or pain when pooing
    • Bleeding due to how large and hard their poo is
    • Poor appetite or stomach pain that improves after having a poo
Constipation is extremely common and affects people at all stages of life. Most of the time children with constipation can be cured at home using medication such as a Docusol Paediatric Solution or changes in diet. Some of the most common causes of constipation in children include:
    • Not getting enough fluids
    • Eating foods low in fibre
    • Not regularly sitting on the toilet or potty
    • Unable to rest their feet on the floor or a step
    • Anxiety, such as not wanting to poo in certain situations, like nursery or school
    • Seeing using the toilet as a stressful situation
Docusol Paediatric Solution will be recommended if your child is already eating solid foods, alongside diet and lifestyle changes. It can take up to a couple of months before Docusol Paediatric Solution or other treatments work.

    Docusol Laxative

Call the health care provider if any of the following occurs:
    • Your child is irritable and seems to be having stomach pain. Infants will pull their legs up to their stomach and cry when they are in pain.
    • Their stomach looks bloated or filled with gas, and develops vomiting whilst constipated.
    • You see blood in their stool.
    • Constipation doesn’t get better when using Docusol Laxative or other treatment options.

    Docusol Paediatric Solution Side Effects
