Betacap Scalp Application is used to treat inflammatory scalp disorders.
Betacap is a scalp application that contains the active ingredient Betamethasone Valerate, used to reduce inflammation. When the skin becomes irritated this results in the affected area becoming red, itchy, swollen, and painful.
What is Betacap Scalp Application used for ?
Betacap Scalp Application is for use on the scalp to treat skin diseases including psoriasis (scaly, pink patches of thickened skin) and seborrhoeic dermatitis (scaly, itchy patches of skin).
How do I use Betacap Scalp Application?
Use Betacap Scalp Application only on psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis affecting the scalp.
Before using the Application for the first time, turn the bottle cap anti-clockwise to break the seal.
For adults and the elderly:
Repeat the following twice a day, morning and evening, until you notice an improvement in your scalp condition. On days when you shampoo your hair, apply Betacap Scalp Application after drying the hair:
- Carefully turn the bottle upside-down over your head, holding the nozzle against the part of the scalp to be treated.
- Gently squeeze the bottle until the affected area is coated with a thin layer of the preparation.
- Gently massage the application into the scalp to prevent it from running off.
- Allow the treated scalp to dry naturally.
Do not use a hair drier.
- Your scalp will feel cool until the liquid has dried. The active ingredient is then left on your scalp.
- Always wash your hands after use.
When you can see that your scalp condition is getting better, you can start to apply Betacap Scalp Application less often, only once a day or even less. The frequency of application should be reduced to the minimum necessary to keep your scalp condition under control.
Betacap is designed to be left on the scalp and should not be washed off. If you need to wash your hair, this should be done prior to application. Ensure your hair and scalp are dry before applying Betacap.
Take extra care to avoid the solution running onto your face and into your eyes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly using cool water. Avoid applying Betacap to broken skin. Washing your hands after application will help avoid accidentally transferring the solution to other areas.
If after two weeks there is no noticeable improvement in your symptoms, you should consult with your doctor. Repeat courses of corticosteroid treatment may be required. However, these courses should only be started on the direct advice from your doctor.

How long can I use Betacap Scalp Application for?
If corticosteroids are used long-term, or on large areas of raw broken skin, greater amounts of the medicine may be absorbed into the body. This will increase the risk of experiencing local side effects. For this reason, continuous, long-term use of Betacap should be avoided wherever possible.
What other important information will I need to know?
Betacap Scalp Application contains flammable alcohol. It should not be used near lit objects or any naked flames, such as gas and electric fires, hairdryers, or lit cigarettes.
Dandruff is a common skin condition. It’s not harmful and you cannot catch it.
Your scalp may also feel dry and itchy.
How to treat dandruff yourself
Use an anti-dandruff shampoo. There are several different types you can buy from pharmacies or supermarkets.
Look for shampoo containing one of these ingredients:
selenium sulphide (or selenium sulfide)
Use the shampoo for a month to see if your dandruff improves. You might need to try more than one type to find one that works for you.
Not everyone using Betacap Scalp Application will experience side effects. However, if you do, they can include:
– Skin irritation (in rare cases)
– Pustular psoriasis (puss-filled blisters)

If you are concerned about any of these side effects, or if Betacap affects you in any other way, stop using it and speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
