What is Dexamethasone/Neomycin/Acetic Acid Ear Spray?
Dexamethasone/Neomycin/Acetic Acid Ear Spray is a generic version of the branded Otomize ear spray for outer ear infections (otitis externa). Otomize has been discontinued. However, this generic version contains the same active ingredients, strengths, and formulation as the original, making it just as effective as Otomize. This is a prescription-only medicine in the UK. To purchase this ear spray, you can complete a simple online consultation with one of our clinicians, who can assess whether this treatment is right for you.How it works
This ear spray contains three active ingredients:- Dexamethasone: a corticosteroid (steroid) to calm your body’s immune response and reduce swelling and inflammation.
- Acetic acid: an antibacterial agent which prevents bacteria from being able to grow, so the infection can’t spread.
- Neomycin sulphate: an antibiotic which stops the bacteria causing the infection from making the proteins they need to survive.
