Dermol 600 is a bath emollient designed to soften, hydrate, and protect dry or irritated skin while you bathe. It’s particularly helpful for people with eczema, dermatitis, or other dry skin conditions, leaving the skin smooth and comfortable after use. This product not only moisturises but also helps to relieve itching and irritation caused by eczema and dermatitis.

How Dermol 600 treats eczema and dry skin

Dermol 600 contains 3 active ingredients:
    • Benzalkonium chloride – an antimicrobial that helps kill bacteria on the skin, reducing the risk of infection and soothing itching.
    • Liquid paraffin – an emollient that coats the skin, sealing in moisture and preventing dryness.
    • Isopropyl myristate – another emollient that softens and smooths the skin while restoring its natural barrier
Together, these ingredients help hydrate dry skin, protect against irritation, and support healing.

    Directions

Shake the bottle well before use.
    • Adults, the elderly, and older children: Add 30ml (around 1 and a half capfuls) to a warm bath.
    • Babies and younger children: Add 15ml (about 3 quarters of a capful) to the bathwater.
Soak in the bath for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the emollient to work on the skin. After bathing, gently pat dry with a soft towel - avoid rubbing to prevent irritation. Take care as the bath may become slippery.

When not to use Dermol 600

Do not use this product if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any other ingredients listed in the leaflet. Avoid getting the solution into your eyes, especially when washing your face. As Dermol 600 can make bath surfaces slippery, always take care when getting in or out of the bath. Clean the bath thoroughly with detergent after use to prevent residue build-up.

    Side effects

Dermol 600 is generally well tolerated, but as with all medicines, side effects can occur, although they are rare. Occasionally, you may notice:
    • redness
    • mild irritation
    • itching
If you experience these or any other side effects, stop using the product and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. You can also report any side effects to the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
