What is the Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema?
The Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema is a bowel cleanser that can be used to relieve constipation. It can also be used as a preparatory laxative before bowel surgery or an endoscopy or X-ray examination. How does it work?
The Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema contains sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate and disodium phosphate dodecahydrate. Sodium phosphate works by increasing the water content of your stools. This helps to clear the bowel and relieve constipation. How to use the Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema
Always use the Cleen Ready-to-Use Enema as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.- Wash your hands thoroughly and, if possible, use disposable gloves.
- Lie on your left side with both of your knees bent and your arms resting in front of you. There are images in the patient information leaflet if you need more guidance with this.
- To remove the orange protective shield, pull the shield gently while holding the bottle upright and grasping the grooved bottle cap with your fingers.
- Gently insert the enema into the rectum using a steady pressure.
- Direct the tip towards your naval and squeeze it until nearly all the liquid has been emptied. (This bottle contains more liquid than needed, so it’s not necessary to empty it completely.)
- Gently remove the nozzle from your rectum. It is normal to experience some leakage of the enema liquid.
- Remain in the same position until you have the urge to evacuate your bowels (usually between two to five minutes).
