What is Tixylix Honey Lemon And Glycerol Syrup and what it is used for

Tixylix honey, lemon and glycerol syrup contains liquid sugar, glycerol and honey. It is used to relieve a dry, tickly, unproductive cough (where no phlegm or mucus is coughed up). It can also soothe a sore throat.

The syrup works by coating the back of the throat, producing a soothing effect. It may also offer some protection to the throat from irritants such as smoke or dust particles.

Before you use Tixylix Honey Lemon And Glycerol Syrup

If your child has any of the following symptoms you should consult your doctor so that the cough can be investigated further: coughing up phlegm that is green, rusty brown, yellow, blood-stained or foul smelling; asthma; shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing; chest pain; pain and swelling in the calf; sudden weight loss; recurrent night-time cough; or a long-term persistent cough.

How to use Tixylix Honey Lemon And Glycerol Syrup

  • Children aged 1 to 5 years should be given one 2.5ml spoonful (the small end of a measuring spoon) three or four times a day as needed.
  • Children aged 5 to 12 years should be given one 5ml spoonful three or four times a day as needed.
  • Children over 12 years and adults should take two 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) three or four times a day as needed.
  • Carefully follow the dosage instructions provided with this medicine. Do not exceed the recommended dose. The medicine should be administered carefully using the spoon or measuring device supplied to make sure the child does not receive more than the maximum dose.
  • If symptoms persist for longer than three days consult your doctor.
