A chesty cough and related bronchial congestion symptoms can be a sign of cold or flu, or a chest infection. Common signs of a chest infection are: coughing up green or yellow mucus and a high temperature; all of which can make it difficult to breathe, swallow and speak. Robitussin Chesty Cough Medicine is a sugar-free, non-drowsy medication that contains the active ingredient guaifenesin. Guaifenesin works by drawing water into the lungs to thin the mucus and lubricate the airway. This makes the cough more productive, allowing the mucus to lift out from the lungs to clear the congestion in your chest, soothe the airway, and make breathing easier.
