How does Phenergan Elixir work?
Phenergan Elixir works by blocking a substance called histamine, which is created when your body has an allergic reaction. Phenergan Elixir also blocks histamine receptors in the vomit centre of the brain, relieving symptoms of nausea. Phenergan Elixir can also be used to aid those who suffer from insomnia, working directly on the brain to make you feel more relaxed.
How to take Phenergan Elixir?
As Phenergan Elixir can be used to treat allergies, insomnia and nausea in patients as young as 2 years old, the most effective dosage will differ from patient to patient. WHEN SHOULD PHENERGAN ELIXIR NOT BE USED?
Phenergan Elixir should not be taken by children under the age of 2. Phenergan Elixir should not be taken if you are breastfeeding or are due to give birth within 2 weeks. If you are pregnant, or think you may become pregnant, speak with your doctor before using Phenergan Elixir. Do not take Phenergan Elixir if you use depression medication known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), for example:
Nardil or phenelzine
Do not use Phenergan Elixir after the bottle has been open for more than a month and always check the expiry date. You may feel drowsy after taking Phenergan Elixir, if this is the case then do not drive or use machinery or tools. Do not drink alcohol while taking Phenergan Elixir, as it can affect how the medicine works.
