Doxycycline contains the active substance Doxycycline. Doxycycline is an antibiotic belonging to a group of medicines called tetracyclines. Along with a number of different types of infections, Doxycycline is used to treat acne. At the core of its operation, Doxycycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. This action is achieved by binding to a ribosomal subunit of the bacteria, which prevents amino acids from linking together.
