Carbomer 0.2% Preservative Free Lubricating Eye Gel
Carbomer 0.2% Preservative Free Lubricating Eye Gel is a transparent liquid gel, based on a high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer, that rapidly spreads across the cornea to reduce friction and instantly lubricates the eyes making them feel more comfortable. Carbomer is a viscoelastic polymer having a jelly-like structure which binds water. It has the ability to moisten the epithelial surface and provide structure for the aqueous phase of the tear film in a manner similar to natural mucin. On contact with the eye, this jelly-like structure is broken down by the electrolytes contained in the tear film releasing water to support the tear film aqueous layer. Carbomer also has excellent mucoadhesive properties which contribute to its high residence time in the eye. This product compensates for tear insufficiency, relieves symptoms of irritation linked with dry eye syndromes and protects the cornea from drying out. It forms a lubricating film with prolonged contact time: the gel remains on the eye surface for longer than low viscosity artificial tears and hence less frequent applications are required.Indications
- For relief in moderate dry and irritated eyes such as those resulting from environmental stress (excessive exposure to wind, dust, pollution, or air conditioning, smoky atmosphere), Incorrect use of contact lenses or ocular stress.
- Dry eye due to allergies and conjunctivitis.
- Prolonged use of computers or driving.
Instructions
- Detach the single-dose container from the strip and open it by twisting and then lifting off the closing cap.
- Instil 1 drop in each eye by gently squeezing the single dose container.
- After use, immediately close the single-dose container; the container and its contents must be used within 12 hours after first opening.
- Use 3-4 times daily or as required, depending upon the severity of the disease or physicians’ advice.
- This product has not been tested on children; however, we are not aware of any risks associated with its use in children. Please consult a doctor before use.
Possible Side Effects
- In rare case, a slight temporary blurring of vision may be observed due to the viscosity of the gel. It is therefore advisable to wait for a few seconds before any activity that requires clear vision.
- As with other eye drops, there is a slight possibility that the product can occasionally cause mild eye irritation, stinging or itching, but this usually soon passes and it can occur in a very small number of people.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, promptly contact your doctor.
