Beconase 50mcg Nasal Spray

• Steroids work by reducing inflammation
• They reduce swelling and irritation in the nose
• This helps to relieve itching, sneezing and your blocked or runny nose.

• Avoid after nasal surgery (until healed and recovered); avoid in pulmonary tuberculosis; avoid in the presence of untreated nasal infections; patients transferred from systemic corticosteroids may experience exacerbation of some symptoms.
• Systemic absorption may follow nasal administration particularly if high doses are used or if treatment is prolonged; therefore also consider the cautions and side effects of systemic corticosteroids. The risk of system effects may be greater with nasal drops than with nasal spray; drops are administered incorrectly more often than sprays.

• Nasal polyps – benign sacs of fluids that grow inside the sinuses and nasal passages, causing the nose to feel blocked.
• Sinusitis – an infection that prevents the mucus draining from the sinuses.
• Middle ear infections – an infection that occurs directly behind the eardrum.

Beconase Hayfever Nasal Spray

• You are allergic to beclometasone dipropionate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

• You have had steroids for a long time, either by mouth or as an injection.
• You have ever had an operation on your nose.
• You have an infection in your nose.

Beclometasone Dipropionate Nasal Spray

• Do not use in children under the age of 6 years old.
• It can take a few days before the effects of Beclometasone Dipropionate Nasal Spray are felt. So keep using it, even though you may not feel any better straight away.
• The spray should be used every day.

• The usual starting dose is 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day.
• The most you would use ion over 24 hours is normally 8 sprays (4 sprays per nostril).
• As you become better, your doctor may ask you to use a lower dose – one spray into each nostril twice a day.
• If symptoms continue to get worse, the dose may be increased back to starting dose.
• Do not use a larger dose or use your nasal spray more often than a doctor has told you to.

• During admission to hospital after a serious accident, injury or illness
• Before and after a surgical operation

Beconase Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray

• Hold the bottle upright and make sure it’s pointed away from you.
• Put your forefinger and middle finger on the collar either side of the nozzle and put your thumb underneath the bottle.
• Keep your thumb still, and press down with your fingers to the spray.
• If the spray does not work and you think it may be blocked, you will need to clean it.
• Never try to unblock or enlarge the tiny spray hole with a pin or sharp object. This will damage the way the spray works.

• Shake the bottle and take off the dust cap.
• Blow your nose gently.
• Close one nostril with your finger as shown, and put the nozzle in the other nostril. Tilt your head forward slightly and keep the bottle upright.
• Start to breathe slowly through your nose. While you are breathing press down firmly on the collar with your fingers. A spray of fine mist will go into the nostril.
• Breathe out through your mouth.
• Repeat the above to use a second spray in the same nostril.
• Remove the nozzle from this nostril and breathe out through your mouth.
• Repeat the steps for your other nostril.
• After using your spray, wipe the nozzle carefully with a clean tissue or handkerchief, and replace the dust cap.

Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray

• The active substance is beclometasone dipropionate.
• The other hayfever relief nasal spray ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, dextrose, polysortbate 80, purified water and the preservatives benzalkonium chloride and phenylethylalcohol. • Becoming very wheezy or having difficulty breathing
• Swelling around the face or throat

• Sneeze a little, but this will soon stop.
• Very occasionally may experience an unpleasant taste or smell.

• Dry or painful nose or throat.
• Bad nose bleeds.
• Mild allergic reactions including skin rashes or redness, itching or weals like nettle rash or hives.

• Damage to the nose
• Cloudy lens in the eye
• Increased pressure in the eye

Hayfever

Hay fever is usually worse between late March and September, especially when it’s warm, humid and windy. This is when the pollen count is at its highest (pollen forecast).

Check if you have hay fever
Symptoms of hay fever include:

sneezing and coughing
a runny or blocked nose
itchy, red or watery eyes
itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
loss of smell
pain around your temples and forehead
headache
earache
feeling tired

If you have asthma, you might also:

have a tight feeling in your chest
be short of breath
wheeze and cough
Hay fever will last for weeks or months, unlike a cold, which usually goes away after 1 to 2 weeks.

How to treat hay fever yourself
There’s currently no cure for hay fever and you can’t prevent it. But you can do things to ease your symptoms when the pollen count is high.

Do

put Vaseline around your nostrils to trap pollen
wear wraparound sunglasses to stop pollen getting into your eyes
shower and change your clothes after you’ve been outside to wash pollen off
stay indoors whenever possible
keep windows and doors shut as much as possible
vacuum regularly and dust with a damp cloth
buy a pollen filter for the air vents in your car and a vacuum cleaner with a special HEPA filter

Don’t

cut grass or walk on grass
spend too much time outside
keep fresh flowers in the house
smoke or be around smoke – it makes your symptoms worse
dry clothes outside – they can catch pollen
let pets into the house if possible – they can carry pollen indoors

Side Effects

– Eye problems, such as pain or blurred vision
– Nasal problems, such as pain or persistent bleeding
– Irritation of the nose or throat
– Noticing unpleasant tastes or smells

These side effects are rare, affecting up to 1 in 1000. If you are concerned about any of these side effects, or if the medicine affects you in any other way, stop using it and speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
