Alvita Advanced TENS Pain Relief Unit

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It produces a gentle stimulus through pads normally placed over/near to the area of pain.

This stimulus provides 2 different modes of relief dependant upon the programme you choose, known as The Pain Gate and Endorphin Release. Programmes designed around The Pain Gate help to block pain messages being sent to the brain. Programmes designed around the Endorphin Release produce natural pain relievers called endorphins.

It is commonly used to provide relief from pain, arthritic pain, sciatica, sports injuries, muscular pain. TENS may also be used to alleviate travel sickness, nausea and tension/stress.

Before using Alvita Advanced TENS Pain Relief Unit:

Do not use Alvita Advanced TENS Pain Relief Unit under the following circumstances:

• During the first twelve weeks of pregnancy or at any time on the abdomen during pregnancy
• If you have a heart pacemaker or serious heart rhythm problem
• If you are driving or operating machinery
• Near heart monitors or heart alarms

Who should be cautious when using TENS?

• If you have epilepsy, consult your doctor before using TENS
• Only use on children under 12 under medical supervision 

Where should pads NOT be placed?

• On the carotid sinuses located at the sides of the neck, (where a doctor feels for a pulse)
• On both sides of the head at the same time
• Near malignant tumours
• On broken skin or on areas where normal sensation is absent
• On the forehead or the front or sides of the neck
• Over the eyes
• On the heads of children under 12

Side Effects:

• There are no known side-effects to the use of TENS. Long-term use of TENS is not harmful.
