For the relief of mild inflammatory skin disorders including: Mild to moderate eczema, irritant contact dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and insect bite reactions.
Hydrocortisone is a mild topical (applied to the skin) corticosteroid, or "steroid" (not to be confused with "anabolic" or "sex" steroids), which is used to treat inflamed skin.
Substitution: We try to use the same manufacturer for each generic product, but we will substitute equivalent products from another manufacturer if there is a supply problem.See Also

Hydrocortisone Cream 1% Directions:
Wash your hands before and after applying hydrocortisone cream but if applying to the hands do not wash after application. Use the spike in the top of the cap to make a hole through the seal of the tube. Apply sufficient cream once or twice daily to thinly cover the affected area and gently rub into the skin until it disappears. Use the cream for a maximum period of one week. If the condition does not improve, consult your doctor.
If you have squeezed out too much cream wipe off the excess with a paper towel.
If you forget to apply Hydrocortisone Cream 1% make another application as soon as possible and continue as before. If it is 4 hours, or less, to the next application, then ignore the missed dose.
Hydrocortisone Cream 1% contains active ingredient:
- Hydrocortisone BP 1% w/w.
Before using Hydrocortisone Cream 1%
Face and other areas: Do not use Hydrocortisone Cream 1% on the face, eyes, ano-genital region, broken or infected skin (including cold sores, acne, athlete's foot or chickenpox).
Children: Do not use under 10 years without medical advice.
Consider the following questions:
- Have you had an allergic reaction to other creams or ointments ?
- Are you pregnant or trying to become pregnant ?
If the answer to either of the above questions is yes. Have you told your doctor or pharmacist ? If not then you should arrange to do so as soon as possible and Before you start to use Hydrocortisone Cream 1% for the first time.
Undesirable effects:
Most patients using hydrocortisone applications will have no problems when used in the correct amount for the prescribed time. If the condition becomes worse during treatment you may have an allergy to one of the ingredients of the cream or an infection. Stop using the Hydrocortisone Cream 1% and tell your doctor as soon as possible.
