Heartburn
Heartburn is not the same as indigestion and needs treating differently. It is caused by the acid stomach contents coming back up your swallowing tube and burning it. This is normally due to the top of the stomach squeezing up through your diaphragm, so that the muscles at the top of the stomach can no longer stop the stomach contents from coming back up. It can be minimised by stopping smoking or losing weight if necessary, or using the products shown below. There are different strengths of medicines to use, and it is best to start with the mildest and work your way up the strengths if necessary. You should have a proper diagnosis made by your doctor, and tell your doctor if this is a regular problem.
