The health of our bowels is not a subject that we like to talk about but it is very important for the health of the rest of the body. The importance and complexity of bowel health is only just beginning to be appreciated. Did you know that there are more bacterial cells in our bowels than there are cells in the rest of our body? Due to the fact that the bowels contain more nerves than the spine, it has been called the second brain, which may explain why certain bowel problems seem to have a mind of their own, and why the bowels are so sensitive to stresses in other parts of the body.
