Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief provides congestion relief from cold, flu and allergy symptoms.

Contac 12 Hour Relief contains Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride a decongestant which unblocks your nose and sinuses, helping you to breathe more easily.

Prolonged Release Capsules: The active ingredient is contained in the granules; when swallowed the active ingredient is gradually released to give continuous relief for up to 12 hours.

Pseudoephedrine Restrictions: Products containing pseudoephedrine are legally limited to one item per order, because this has in some cases been used to manufacture illegal drugs

Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief How to take:

The active ingredient is contained in the granules: When swallowed the active ingredient is gradually released to give continuous relief for up to 12 hours.

It is important you do not chew or crush the capsule contents, as this will interfere the with the 12 hour action of the capsules.

Adults (including the elderly) and children aged 12 years and over:

  • Take one capsule in the morning and another at bedtime
  • Not to be given to children under 12 years of age
  • Do not exceed the stated dose
  • If symptoms persist consult your doctor

It would be harmful to take more than the doses stated on the pack and leaflet in your own product. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose.

Each Contac Non Drowsy prolonged release, hard capsule contains: Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 120 mg, as the active ingredient.

They also contain: gelatin, sucrose, hypromellose, soya lecithin (E322), ethylcellulose, ammonium hydroxide (E 527), medium chain triglycerides, oleic acid, macrogol, shellac (E904), simethicone, starch and colours titanium dioxide (E171), carminic acid (E120), black iron oxide (E172).

WarningsDo not take Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief if you:
  • Are allergic to pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, or any of the other ingredients listed
  • Are under the care of your doctor for severe heart disease or severe high blood pressure. Your doctor will tell you if this applies to you
  • Are taking drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression, or furazolidone for an infection, or have taken them within the last two weeks

Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief contains a decongestant; do not take with any other products for the relief of colds, congestion or hay fever

Talk to your doctor before taking Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief if you:

  • Have mild to moderate heart disease or high blood pressure
  • Have an overactive thyroid gland
  • Have been diagnosed as having a tumour of the adrenal glands (phaeochromocytoma) or an enlarged prostate
  • Have any kidney disease, especially if you also have a heart condition
  • Have diabetes, or glaucoma
  • Are taking drugs called tricyclic antidepressants or drugs to suppress your appetite, prescribed by your doctor
  • Are taking any other product containing a decongestant
  • Are taking amfetamine-like stimulants such as drugs used in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or narcolepsy.

Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief may reduce the effectiveness of drugs you are taking for high blood pressure including bretylium, guanethidine, debrisoquine, methyldopa and alpha and beta adrenergic blocking agents. Talk to your doctor first before taking the capsules.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding: As with all medicines you should ask your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breast feeding. You should only use the product at this time if your doctor thinks it appropriate and necessary.

Contac Non Drowsy 12 Hour Relief contains sucrose: If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. 

Side-effects: Most people taking the capsules find they cause them no problems. However, occasionally some people may get skin rashes, other allergic effects or become extra sensitive to sunlight. There have also been reports of dizziness, agitation, insomnia, nervousness, restlessness and dry mouth. There have been occasional reports in men of difficulty in passing water. These effects should go away if you stop taking the medicine.

If you are concerned about these effects, or if the capsules affect you in any other way, stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
