Adcortyl in Orabase is for the treatment of common mouth ulcers it contains Triamcinolone Acetonide in Oromucosal Paste

Triamcinolone acetonide belongs to a group of medicines called steroids which are used to reduce inflammation

Triamcinolone Acetonide is contained in a paste which will stick to the wet surfaces of the mouth and form a protective film over your mouth ulcer

How much Adcortyl in Orabase for Mouth Ulcers to use:

• Apply just enough to thinly cover your mouth ulcers
• It is best to use the product at bedtime
• However, if required, it can also be applied a further two to three times during the day
• Do not apply more than four times in 24 hours

How to use Adcortyl in Orabase for Mouth Ulcers:

• Dry the mouth ulcer and smear a small amount of paste on to it using a clean, dry finger
• Do not rub in

Use Adcortyl in Orabase for mouth ulcers after meals, as it will stay in contact with your mouth for longer:

• Do not eat or drink immediately after applying Orabase for Mouth Ulcers

There are no special directions for children but as for adults:

• Do not use Adcortyle in Orabase for Mouth Ulcers for longer than 5 days
• If you still have symptoms after this time, go and see your doctor or dentist

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as possible

Adcortyl in Orabase contains the active ingredient: Triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% w/w

The Orabase paste contains: gelatin, liquid paraffin, pectin, polyethylene resin and sodium carboxymethylcellulose.

Do not use Adcortyl in Orabase if you have any of the following illnesses:

• Tuberculosis (TB) of the skin
• A viral skin infection, especially Varicella (chickenpox), Vaccinia (cowpox) or Herpes simplex (cold sores)
• Any fungal or bacterial infection of the skin (unless the doctor is treating it with antifungals or antibiotics)
• Diabetes
• Stomach ulcer
• You have had an allergic reaction to similar medicines or any of the ingredients in this product

Children and adults: do not use Adcortyl in Orabase for longer than 5 days

Pregnant or breast-feeding: If you are pregnant, may become pregnant or are breast feeding , you should speak to your doctor before using this product.

Side-Effects: Any medicine may cause some unwanted side-effects. This is one of the reasons why you should not use Adcortyl in Orabase for more than 5 days without checking with your doctor. After prolonged use there is the possibility of absorption into the body. This may cause side effects, particularly in infants and children or if the product is used under false teeth. If you notice any irritation or other side-effect which you think may be as a result of using this product, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
