The Benefits Of Positive Thinking

The benefits of positive thinking are enormous and extend into every area of life, as positive thinking people are healthier, happier and more successful.

Keep your thoughts positive because they become your words
Keep your words positive because they become your behaviors
Keep your habits positive because they become your values
Keep your values positive because they become your destiny.

–Mahatma Gandi

Positive thinking people are happier. Pessimists are more inwardly focused and have more depression, anxiety and other mental health problems in general. Positive people have a greater capacity for love, joy and warmth that brings happiness into their lives, into the lives of their families and everyone else they meet. They have a greater capacity for love and are loved more in return. because they are more outwardly focused, kinder and more considerate to others.

Positive thinking people are healthier. They live longer and happier lives. A study of 180 nuns living the same ordered lives was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychiatry in 2001. Analysis of the positive words used in their diaries revealed the nuns with the most positive emotions in their lives. 90% of the positive quarter of nuns were alive at age 85, versus only 34% of the less positive quarter. Similarly 54% of the happier nuns were alive at age 95, versus only 11% of the unhappiest quarter. Other published studies have produced similar results. Optimism can cut your chances of death or disability by half, and improves your chances of ageing well. Negative thinking people are more inward looking and suffer more depression and anxiety

Positive thinking people are more successful or to put it another way, successful people think positively. Optimists are happier and more productive in their jobs, get promoted quicker and earn more than pessimists. These people set higher goals, persist at them longer, and achieve more of them.
