Product Info

Lyclear Spray Away eradicates head lice without chemical insecticides: The lotion contains coconut oil and aniseed oil which are not known to have harmful effects on the skin. Because of its physical mode of action it is not possible for head lice to develop resistance to its ingredients.

Lyclear Spray Away Kind on Kids:
  • No insecticides
  • Clinically tested
  • 15 minutes contact
  • Includes Spray and Comb
  • Up to 8 applications

The effectiveness of Lyclear Spray Away has been tested in clinical trials at the universities of Miami, Paris and Jerusalem.

The lotion also contains ylang-ylang oil which helps to soothe any irritation caused by scratching and the allergic reaction to the saliva of the head louse.

  • The unique formula helps to loosen the eggs and aids removal with the specially designed fine toothed comb.
Lyclear Spray Away has a unique leak-proof spray which makes the application of the lotion very easy and non-messy, which is ideal for young children who find it difficult to sit still whilst being treated.
  • The spray mechanism transforms the oil into fine droplets making it economical to use and easy to wash out
  • A ridged fine-toothed comb specially designed to remove lice and their eggs

As Lyclear Spray Away does not contain any chemical insecticides it is not possible for head lice to develop resistance to the ingredients. This means Lyclear Spray Away will remain an effective treatment whenever you need it.

If the scalp has been irritated by a reaction to the saliva of the lice, the ylang-ylang oil contained in Lyclear Spray Away will help to soothe the scalp.

Lyclear Spray Away directions for use: Treat each member of the family at the same time to help avoid re-infestation

1: Check for the presence of head lice: Use the Spray Away comb to check for the presence of head lice. Ensure that you perform the check in a good light as lice can be difficult to see.

It is easier to check dry hair. Firstly, comb through the hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles. Check the favourite place for lice first - behind the ears and the nape of the neck. If none are found, proceed to section the hair and carefully pass the nit comb along the hair, from the scalp right to the ends. Inspect the comb for lice and eggs. Wash the comb before checking another person.

2: Apply Lyclear Spray Away: Carefully spray Lyclear Spray Away all over dry hair until it is lightly wetted. Lice generally live within a couple of inches of the scalp, but ensure you treat the whole length of the hair as they may try to avoid the spray. Thoroughly massage the lotion into the hair and scalp for a minute or so to ensure they are completely coated. Now leave the lotion on for at least 15 minutes.

3: Wash the hair: You can now wash the hair as normal. You may find that you do not need to use hair conditioner immediately after using Lyclear Spray Away.

4: Remove the lice and eggs: Before drying the hair, use the Spray Away comb to remove the lice and eggs.

  • Detangle the towel-dried hair with a regular comb
  • Divide the hair into 4 sections: from the forehead to the nape and then across the crown from ear to ear
  • Divide the first quarter section into much smaller strands so that you can see the scalp
  • Starting right at the scalp, pass the Lyclear Spray Away comb right along the length of the hair. As you complete each strand, push the hair to one side
  • After combing each strand, wipe off any lice and eggs found onto a tissue
  • When the first quarter section has been combed, do the other 3 in turn.

After combing each person’s hair, wash the comb to avoid re-infestation.

5: Repeat the treatment 7 days Later: As it is difficult to remove all the eggs with the first treatment, a second application is necessary after 7 days when any remaining eggs will have hatched into lice.
  • Repeat Steps 2-4 seven days after the first treatment

Lice cannot develop resistance to Lyclear Spray Away as it has a non-chemical mode of action:

  • However, the high prevalence of head lice infestations, especially in schools, means that it’s very easy to become re-infected even a short time after successful treatment with Lyclear Spray Away.
  • In this case, you may use Lyclear Spray Away whenever a head lice infestation is detected, and it will give the same effective results each time, when used in accordance with the instructions.

Extra Info

About head Lice: The head louse is a tiny wingless insect that cannot hop, jump or fly. It holds onto the hair shaft very tightly with its claws and can move very quickly. Lice live close to the human scalp where it’s nice and warm and they feed on blood from the scalp about 4 times a day. They vary in size, according to the stage in their life cycle, but an adult louse is usually about the size of a sesame seed. They can be very difficult to see even when fully grown as they can be quite transparent, especially just before feeding.

Female lice lay several eggs each day that hatch between 7-10 days later. The eggs are attached to the base of the hair shaft, close to the scalp, with a fast-setting 'glue'. Live eggs are very hard to see as they are pearly white, a similar colour to the scalp. If you can see a white egg easily a little further along the hair shaft, it is almost certainly the empty egg case (nit) of a louse that hatched some time ago.

When feeding, the louse injects an anti-clotting substance into the scalp. Some people are allergic to this, and it can cause the scalp to itch. In fact, only one third of people display sensitivity to this substance, therefore itching cannot be relied upon as a sign of a head lice infestation.

  • The only sure way to detect head lice is by checking the hair for live lice every week
  • Head lice can only be transmitted by head-to-head contact
  • They cannot survive away from the warmth of the human head
