This is a significant book that everyone should read. It will totally and utterly change the way you think about food and weight loss, and put you in a position to control your weight and evaluate food and diet claims. It is the best book on health I have read in a long time.
The current ideas on how to lose weight are wrong, and this book demolishes those ideas and replaces them with the solid science that was there all the time, but which has become sidetracked. Gary Taubes clearly shows how the ideas about how to lose weight were correct a hundred years ago, but have been sidetracked by misguided thinking. It is a detective story weaving history and science together in the most compelling way.
I have now changed the way I eat, and have lost seven pounds in weight in two weeks. No dieting, no effort, no exercise. When I made a concerted effort to lose weight last year it took me two months of Bootcamp exercise to achieve this.
