Food Allergy & Food Intolerance (Blog)
Food allergy is an uncommon but very serious condition, but food intolerance is thought to be quite widespread, with estimates saying it affects between 6 and 50% of the population, and may be the cause for many types of chronic illnesses which make you feel ill, but your doctor can find no medical cause.
Food intolerance is widely recognised by nutritionists, but not by most doctors as being a cause of many health problems, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), swollen stomach and bloating, chronic headaches and migraines, sleep problems, lack of energy, inability to concentrate, joint problems and weight gain.
Gluten intolerance is thought to be particularly common, which is a sensitivity to the gluten found in wheat, and wheat products such as bread, cakes and biscuits.
